Crossing the Finish Line - Final Contest Recap

And now, the end is near, and so I face the final curtain...Okay, maybe that's a tad dramatic, but we are seeing a few curtains fall. We've seen 2014 close after all. And with the end of the year, we also see the end of the first ever games beaten challenge on Guide2Games.

Merry Christmas, Happy Haul-idays

It's the most wonderful time of the year. Well, unless you're one of those people who can't wait until school starts again, then the most wonderful time of the year probably won't be for a while. But for those who happen to observe a certain holiday in December, it probably has been a wonderful time of the year.

Halfway Through December - Special Moments in Gaming

So, we come to the very last recap post of this contest. I remember when we first started, I thought it'd never get here, and yet here we are. So, shall we do the usual where I go over the total scores and games added for December...

I think not.

The Backlog Blues - Part 2 Nintendo

So, it's finally the last month of 2014. We finally made it. And not to brag too much, but I'd say I'm doing pretty well for a personal record. The contest is one thing, but now, I'm more interested in seeing how many more I can win. But I digress. We're not here to discuss games...okay actually, we are.

Ending Recap for November

Well, we're really coming down to it now. Hard to believe this is the end of November, and the contest is heading into the home stretch. Of course, it's always hard to believe when it's almost the end of the year. Why does time have to go so fast? Well, anyway, let's see how things stand now.

My Crushing Defeats (Or Games that Got the Better of Me)

Hello again, readers, gamers, and all you other people. I thought since I was pretty inactive during half of November, I'd make up for a little lost time. So, here's another post, and once again, it's about games and the contest, but this time, it's not about my most recent win or the experience of playing. This time, I'm here to tell you now what I didn't win, yeah, yeah.

Halfway Through November

My, my where does time go? I wish I knew, especially when it came to this little contest. Of course, knowing where all my time goes in real life might help to. I'd sure like to drag some of that time back a ways. But what can you do?

Anyway, that's enough musing, unless I happen to play a game that revolves around time travel...let's see, Chrono Trigger, Prince of Persia, the 2nd Mario & Luigi game, wait didn't I do that one already? Now, let's get down to business. Or would this contest be more pleasure?

Stepping Back into the Ring

I could make all kinds of cracks about the title of this post. After all, I've been a bit out of the gaming scene for a while, so you could say I've been out of the ring. Or you could say I haven't posted much lately, so I've been out of the ring on this blog too. Yeah, I could attach all kinds of meanings to this, but there's really only one I intend on - a fighting ring.

Ending Recap for October

Well, we come to the end of October. That means come midnight tonight, only 60 days remain in the contest. Coming right down to the wire, isn't it? Well, what else could you say about it? So, how did we do this month, you might ask. Well, read on.

A Real Jam Goin' Down

Looks like October is shaping up to be a busy month for me. Well, I can't complain too much. Of course, I hope all you readers aren't complaining either. There's been some new sorts of posts this month, and some more of the old too. We're going back with the old for this one - covering yet another game I beat for the contest; number 78 if you're counting. I figured it was appropriate since something happens tomorrow, but I really can't put my finger on it...

The Backlog Blues - Part 1 Sega Genesis

Well, still no new game news yet. I haven't had much chance to play, and there really isn't much for me to say. Okay, maybe there is, and I might get to say something. After all, basketball season starts soon, and I did just win a basketball game not that long ago. But I digress. I thought it was time for something new. I thought I'd give you all a look into just how serious a gamer I am with a look into my backlog.

Halfway Through October

Okay, so maybe it's not exactly halfway, but how can you split a month with 31 days right down the middle? Only 76 days left in the contest, or 75 if you happen to live a few timezones out, so let's see how things stand so far through October.

The Knight Got a Bit Darker

Hello again, readers, gamers, and all those who stumble upon my blog. Been a while since the last time I had anything to say about games, although I'd have plenty of material. I've got 80 games beaten so far, and I have to say, that's pretty good. So, I could tell you about any one of them, if I haven't done it already. I figured, I'd start off with the game that opened my wins for October, and what a game it was.

Interview with boyward

Greeting all you gamers, readers, or anyone who just stumbled onto my blog by accident. So, we find ourselves in October, and just 87 days left until we have our winner. Is the excitement getting to you? Well, it is me. I've already beaten one game so far this month, and I might just talk about it. But that's another topic altogether. For the first post of the month, I've got an interview for you all.

Ending Recap for September

So, it's the end of the month. I know there's not a lot of them left. We'll be finding out who our winner is in about 3 months, give or take a day. Still, I figured I'd take advantage of what few times I can post this, my ending recap. So, here's what we saw in September.

A Sonic Speed Triple Play

Well, gamers and readers, I figure on getting another post in before the end of the month (apart from a brief recap). Originally, I was going to write about another game entirely, but then I decided that I should do a triple play. No, this isn't another baseball game.

Interview with Nelson S.

Hey gamers, fellow competitors, and...all you other people who happen to read my blog. How's everybody doing this fine day? Well, at least I hope it's a fine day. For the post of the week, you're going to get another little change up. It can't be all fun and games can it? As promised, I bring you that interview I mentioned not that long ago. More interviews with the other competitors are likely later.

So, It's The Middle of the Month

So, here we are with the month of September halfway over. I wish I'd gotten at this blog sooner. Maybe I could have captured the experience better. But it's a little tricky to do that now, unless Guide 2 Games decides to do another contest.

The Wii U - Is It For Me? First Impressions

Well, for a change we have a post that doesn't involve this contest. Aren't you glad? Okay, I'm just being funny (unsuccessfully I'm sure). I do hope you've been enjoying my posts so far. Today, I've decided to direct a post away from games, contests, and all that. This time, it's all about the hardware, or rather one of the pieces of hardware I don't own.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame...

Those classic words have probably been heard at nearly every baseball game. Well, it is a classic after all. Baseball is also something of a classic too. Hey, it's always referred to as the great American pastime. Of course, I don't think anyone imagined baseball quite like this, except for the people at Nintendo.

Shadows Gather and So Do the Dragons

Well, readers, I figured for the first post of the month, I'd post my latest win, which was also the first win of the month. I'd been working on this little title all through the latter part of August, and finally, I claimed victory. I hate to blow my own horn about it, but with a series like Fire Emblem, most wins are worth a little horn blowing.

Two Castles but Only One Classic

VS.

Hello readers, once again. It's your friendly neighborhood SeriousGamer. Okay, that was just corny, and I'm not even talking about a Spider-Man game. Well, not yet anyway. There's still plenty of year left, and even if I don't get it, I'll probably still talk about it. But I digress.

This post actually involves two games, both of which I won for this contest. These rank at number 1 and number 11, if my count is right. Care to take a case at which Castle of Illusion I entered first?

Did the Light Shine in the Darkness?

Shining in the Darkness

Well, I thought it was about time to give some idea of what kind of games I've been playing for that little contest I've mentioned. Rather than start at the beginning, I thought I'd start at the end. This was the most recent game I've beaten, number 60 if you're counting, and it was certainly a step into uncharted territory for me.

I'd never played a game like Shining in the Darkness, mostly because I didn't know about it for a long time.

Greetings and My First Post

Greetings, programs. I don't know why, I just find Jeff Bridge's line from Tron funny. I guess it fits too, seeing as this is a blog for programs, just ones you can have a little fun with and waste your time with all at the same time. Personally, I prefer the having fun bit.

Now, you may be wondering more about why this blog exists, where the name came from, why I have a page marked 'leader board,' etc. Well, I can't say as I blame you, but it'll all come in time.

First off, I'd recommend you check out the About pages.

Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy what you see, both now and later.

Keep playing:
