About Me and this Blog

About Me

Who am I? Who, who, who, who? And who the heck are you?

I'm kidding. I know who I am. But I'm sure you don't. Well, hopefully, we'll soon fix that.

First off, you'll probably want to know my name...well that's a pity because that's one thing I probably won't share on a blog. This is a blog, not a business card after all.

Anyway, I will explain where the name came from. If you're already a member of Guide2Games, then you know me by the name SeriousGamer already. If not, well, that's where it came from - my username on that site. Or you might know me as SG or Serious on there too.

Am I a serious gamer or just a gamer who's serious? Well, probably both, but it sounded like the right name for the site, so I went with it. Since I'm making a site that links back to it and follows it, I thought it'd be a good idea to use the same name. Plus, as the name implies, I'm a big gamer. Oh, I still get out and enjoy what you people call 'real life' but when I'm not doing that, listening to music, or doing something fairly important, chances are you'll find me with a controller in hand...or a handheld.

I got started at an early age, watching my parents play a few games on the Sega Genesis. My mom really liked those old Disney games, like Castle of Illusion, Quackshot, and others. My dad was big on only two games really - NBA Jam and Desert Strike, but hey, at least it was something. Soon as I could, I picked up the controller myself. And I just kept on going. First it was the Genesis, then the SNES, the Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, PlayStation (rented that one a few times), GameCube, then the Xbox. Didn't stop there either.

About This Blog

Now, we come to the reason for this blog. Earlier this year, the folks at Guide2Games decided to have a little challenge to see who could win the most games for 2014. I wasn't into it at first, but they managed to pull me in. So, we're all locked in an epic battle to see who will emerge victorious. Okay, that's a tad dramatic, but I had the idea of documenting the progress we've made here. Yeah, I know, I should have started earlier, but better late than never. I'll also be posting my thoughts on games I'm trying to win or games I've completed for this contest, as well as general gaming thoughts.

Let's get one thing clear though, I'm not a reviewer. I'm not going to give recommendations for or warnings against games. I do that already. This is just to give my thoughts on difficulty, length, looks, and just the overall experience of the games I play. Also please bear in mind that it's just my opinion too. Just because I'm a serious gamer doesn't mean I'm a pro.

Anyway, see you around the boards.
